Hundreds of delegates are expected to travel from across the four provinces to the Hillgrove Hotel in Monaghan town.

Ireland's largest community awards will be hosted by Monaghan County Council later today.

The Pride of Place awards is an annual competition organised by peacebuilding charity Co-operation Ireland and sponsored by IPB Insurance.

Cavan's 'Ages and Stages' project is just one of many local initiatives that is in the running for a top prize.
The project was created by members of the Cavan Older People's Council.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Co-Chairperson Brian McDermott said the group was "thrilled" to receive a nomination:
