The rainbow flag will fly over Monaghan County Council and the CMETB to celebrate Pride Week.

Sinn Féin councillors Colm Carthy and Cathy Bennett requested the flying of the rainbow flag to show solidarity with the LGBTI+ community.

The Chief executives of Monaghan County Council and the CMETB both agreed to the request, which will see the flag flown from the 20th to 28th of June.

With the cancellation of Dublin Pride, Ireland’s flagship pride event, Councillor Carthy said this would ensure that the LGBTI+ community feel accepted.
