Councillors were told the contractor was "suffering from staff reductions due to Omicron".

Remediation works to footpaths in Bailieborough are set to get underway early next month.

A survey of the condition of footpaths in the Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District was undertaken recently, and Councillor Paddy McDonald asked if any work was forthcoming as a result.

Municipal District Area Manager Alan Lyons informed councillors that a meeting is to take place with contractors this week.

He said it's hoped "remediation and renewal works" will be done on footpaths on "both side of Main Street and Barrack Street" in Bailieborough.

While Mr Lyons said the contractor is "suffering from staff reductions due to Omicron", he added that he anticipates the work starting in early February.
