Rise expected in Covid cases in next couple of weeks following country's reopening

Cavan is now 6th on the table when it comes to incidence rates at 139.2.

There's an expected rise in Covid-19 cases in the next couple of weeks following the country's reopening, according an infectious disease consultant.

379 new cases of the disease and nine further deaths were confirmed yesterday.

There's 106 people with the virus being treated in hospital, with 34 in ICU.

The five-day moving average of new cases is 422 - down around 10 percent on last week.

Dr Eoghan De Barra says the numbers will rise due to the easing of restrictions.

Cavan is 6th on the table when it comes to incidence rates.

The county now has a rate of 139.2 after fewer than 5 cases were confirmed yesterday.

Monaghan meanwhile is falling into 11th place nationally with a rate of 97.7.

There were also fewer than 5 cases in the county yesterday.
