The road at Rassan on the N53 where a single vehicle accident occurred last night remains closed this evening.
Local diversions are in place as forensics continue with their investigations.
The collision occurred on the main Castleblayney to Dundalk road when a car carrying four people collided with a tree.

Two women, aged 23 and 21 who were backseat passengers were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where they remain in a critical condition.
The driver and front seat passenger, two men in their late teens, were uninjured.
Gardai are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam footage from the road between 8pm and 9pm last night to contact them.
