The R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock has reopened following a fatal collision this morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the collision that occurred in Shercock shortly after 7.30am.
The road was closed throughout the day pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí responded to a collision involving a car and a lorry on the R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock.
The driver of the car, a male in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. The lorry driver, a male in his 60s, was taken to hospital for assessment.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
