Councillor Trever Smith brought a motion to the local elected members.

Road safety concerns at Crosserlough National School have been raised at this month's meeting of the Ballyjamesduff Municipal District.

Councillor Trever Smith brought a motion to the local elected members to ask the county Council to look at what can be done to alleviate the dangers that currently exist along the route.

The local councillor said that measures need to be put in place to make sure the stretch of road is as safe as possible outside the local primary school.

The Cavan Councillor said that traffic is moving too quickly passing the school and something needs to be done.

In response to Cllr Smith, Cavan County Council said that they were happy to look into what can be done but said that ramps were not an option due to the fact that it was 80kmh zone.

"I brought it up to highlight the concerns of the parents of children attending the school. It's long been an 80kph speed limit road and at 2 and 3 o'clock, there are concerns with the speed of traffic. It's a huge issue. It's a busy road, there's a big industrial side and we wanted to highlight these issues".
