The R165 at Bailieborough has reopened this afternoon after a woman in her 80s was struck by a car shortly after 7pm yesterday. She was taken to Cavan General Hospital where her condition is being described as critical.
Meanwhile, Gardai are appealing for witnesses and are particularly interested in anyone who was travelling on the road between 6:45pm and 7:15pm yesterday and has dash cam footage.
The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and local diversions were in place. Gardai have confirmed to Northern Sound that the road has reopened in the past half an hour.
