The number of new electric cars registered in the Northern Sound region has dropped significantly in the first half of this year.
47 new electric cars were registered in Cavan between January and June, a large drop from last year's figure of 105. Meanwhile in Monaghan, 41 new electric cars were registered in the first six months of this year, down 31% on 2023.
New car registrations overall across the region, however, are up, with 808 new cars registered in Cavan and 630 in Monaghan This represents a just under 5% increase on the same time last year.
