Seagulls in Co Louth 'pecking' fights with locals

There are 360 nests recorded in Drogheda.

Louth County Council is asking people in Drogheda not to feed seagulls in the town. An anti-littering campaign and the use of falcons and artificial falcons are also being suggested following complaints of a string of attacks by seagulls.

However, Deputy Lord Mayor of Louth County Council, Cllr Kevin Callan, says they're not considering a cull of the birds. A National Gull Survey for 2022 showed there are more seagulls in Drogheda than in every town on the west coast combined, with 360 nests recorded.
