Seven-day covid-19 isolation period could be reduced to five days

Local GP Illona Duffy says the rules could be changed to 5-days but only if people have no acute symptoms.

Some people are still testing positive on an antigen test even after 7 days of self-isolation, according to a leading GP.

It comes as the government is considering reducing the length of time someone needs to self-isolate, which is currently set at 7 days.

Business groups welcome the suggestion, as they report many staff are out of work due to positive tests but are asymptomatic.
