There has been confirmation of two additional special classes for schools in Co. Cavan and Co. Monaghan.
It was announced this morning that St. Bricin's College in Belturbet, and St. Joseph's National School in Carrickmacross will receive an additional special class.
Minister of State Niamh Smyth welcomed confirmation of the news this morning.
The classes follows on from the allocation of 12 already in both counties to date in 2026.
This announcement forms part of the Seventh phase of approvals for special classes nationwide for the 2026 to 2027 school year.
An additional 36 classes have been sanctioned today, bringing the total approved so far this year to 464, with further decisions expected in the coming weeks.
