The hall which was built in 1948 has received a funding allocation of €250,000 for upgrade works.

A Monaghan councillor has welcomed the announcement of funding under the Towns and Village Renewal Scheme to upgrade St Mary's Hall in Urbleshanny. A funding allocation of €250,000 was recently announced by Minister Heather Humphreys for the refurbishment of the local hall. According to Cllr Cathy Bennett these "much-needed" upgrades will support the communities need for the possibility of additional childcare in the area.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Bennett said; "I have been working with St Mary's Hall Committee , Father Joyce and the Monaghan MD in completing an application for this project for some time. This Hall was built in 1948, so upgrade works needed are well overdue to bring this building up to the standards required in the 21st century. It will be a great amenity for all to use within our community, so I am delighted to help advance this project."
