A status yellow Thunderstorm and rain warning has been issued by Met Eireann for all counties in the Shannonside Northern Region.
The alert issued by the national forecaster takes effect from midday today until 11pm tonight.
Up to 15 counties are affected including Longford, Cavan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Cavan and Westmeath.

Met Eireann say the warning will see thunderstorms bringing frequent lighting, heavy downpours, gusty winds and a chance of hail.
Localised flooding and difficult driving conditions are expected as possible impacts from this current weather warning.
