Newport Furnace in Mayo recorded the highest air temperature of 2021 at 23.1 degrees.

Met Eireann says yesterday was the hottest day of the year, with temperatures soaring over 21 degrees in Cavan.

Newport Furnace in Mayo recorded the highest air temperature of 2021 at 23.1 degrees, with the weather station in Ballyhaise being a little cooler with the mercury peaking at 21.6 degrees Celsius.

Met Eireann is forecasting similar weather for today, with warm but perhaps cloudy conditions later in the week.
