'Temporary speed limits' to come into force in Cavan

The speed limit will only be in force when the signs are in place.

Cavan County Council is implementing temporary speed limits on the N55 during construction of the N55 Cavan to Longford Border Pavement Scheme. This road works speed limit will be in effect from Monday, 24 July 2023 for a maximum period of 12 months.

According to Cavan County Council, the speed limit will only be in force when the signs are in place and the duration of the works will be approximately eight weeks.

Road users are advised to please comply with all speed limit signs that will be in place at the below locations;

Location 1: Northern Section

Implement a 60km/hr zone for a distance of 1,457m from a point 66m southwest of the R-394 Junction with the N-55 in the townland of Mullaghoran, Co. Cavan, to a point 825m northeast of the N-55 Junction with the L-6560 in the townland of Mullaghoran, Co. Cavan.

Location 2: Southern Section

Implement a 60km/hr zone for a distance of 1,863m from a point 406m southwest of the L-66161 Junction with the N-55 in the townland of Tullygullin, Co. Cavan, to a point 285m northeast of the N-55 Junction with the L-6563 in the townland of Cloncovet, Co. Cavan.
