She served as a Fianna Fáil councillor in the county from 1985 until 2004.

Tributes have been paid to the late Rosaleen O'Hanlon, who was a former Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council.

The Carrickmacross women served as a Fianna Fáil councillor in the county from 1985 until 2004.

She was also a prominent businesswoman in the town, and her son PJ O'Hanlon is a current Fianna Fáil councillor in the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD.

Rosaleen has been described as "the nicest woman you could meet" and her Requiem Mass will take place tomorrow morning at 11am at St. Joseph's Church in Carrickmacross.
