Tributes have been paid on the passing of a well known Cootehill businessman.
Gerry McDonagh from Station Road, Cootehill died peacefully at his home yesterday surrounded by his loving family.
One person online said Gerry was such an integral part Cootehill town and did so much for the community. While another described him as a real gentleman, fantastic larger-than-life character and a good friend.
In another online post, it was remarked how Gerry was such a gentleman and always had a smile. He was also described as gentle jolly character who was full of craic and who bore his illness with dignity and determination.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife Martina, sons Paul (Aisling) and Simon, daughters Jenna (Martin) and Keara (Sean), grandchildren Ben, Emily, Aoibhín and Luca, brother Stephen, sisters Anne, Una, Bernie and Martina, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Reposing at his home (H16 CR60) this Wednesday evening from 5pm to 8pm, and Thursday evening from 4pm to 8pm. Removal leaving his home on Friday afternoon at 1.30pm to arrive at St. Michael’s Church, Cootehill for 2 o’clock funeral mass, followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium Cavan.
