Tributes have poured in following the tragic death of Richard Merriman, who lost his life as a result of a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Cavan during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The 36-year old who was originally from Ankerland, Castlepollard, in Westmeath but lived in the Knocktemple area of Cavan has been described as a "true gentleman" and a "wonderful, kind person."
The incident occurred at approximately 3.45am on the L3022 at Virginia in Cavan County.
Emergency services arrived at the scene, however the late Richard Merriman who was the sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
As well as any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the L3022 at Virginia, between 3.15am and 4am on Saturday morning to make this footage available to Gardaí.
