Two drivers were caught travelling at more than double the speed limit in county Monaghan last weekend.
During a five day campaign more than 2,650 motorists were detected for speeding offences.
Two of the six worst incidents took place in county Monaghan, cases which saw one motorist being stopped after they were caught travelling at 124kmh in a 50kmh zone on the R188 in Monaghan Town.
A second motorist was detected travelling at 178km/hr in an 80km/hr zone on the N2, Drumcaw, Monaghan.
Gardaí continue to appeal to all road users to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, to slow down and to always choose a speed that is appropriate to the driving conditions.
