Two Monaghan nursing/daycare homes receive grants for promotion of physical activity

'The long-running Age & Opportunity Active National Grant Scheme has proven an excellent resource in enabling older people to become more physically active'

Two Monaghan nursing and daycare homes have received grants for promotion of physical activity amongst older people.

The grants will be allocated to Monaghan Alzheimer Society and Drumbear Lodge Nursing Home.

The Age & Opportunity Active National Grant Scheme, a combined initiative with Sport Ireland, has distributed €66,010 to 94 nursing homes and day centres nationwide.

According Tadhg Daly, CEO of Nursing Homes Ireland, physical activity fulfils an integral role in supporting, maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of nursing home residents.

He added that the initiative will bring great benefits to nursing home residents across the local region.
