An unaccompanied learner driver in Carrickmacross has been fined for driving with bald tyres.
Gardaí stopped the car yesterday in the south Monaghan town.
The car was initially stopped for having two excessively worn tyres on the front, when it was also discovered that the driver was on a Learner Permit without a qualified driver beside them.

The car was taken off the road and the driver was handed a Fixed Payment Notice.
Gardaí are reminding motorists to ensure their vehicles are always in a roadworthy condition and to never drive on a permit without someone beside them.
