Cavan County Council has given an update following on from the collapse of a West Cavan bridge.
Last week, the Mullaghboy Bridge on the L-1012-0 at Gowlan in Blacklion was significantly damaged.
This was as a result of an exceptional rainfall event, when it was reported a month's worth of rain fell in one day around the country.
As a result the road is impassable, with locals saying the closure is causing a sufficient inconvenience.
In a statement given to Northern Sound Cavan County Council said it is currently in the process of appointing a specialist contractor to carry out the replacement works at Mullaghboy Bridge.
Subject to procurement, it is anticipated that works will commence within the next two weeks.
