US says UK threat to rip up NI Protocol 'deeply concerning'

One of the most powerful politicians in the US says the UK's threat to rip-up the Northern Ireland protocol is "deeply concerning".

Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House of Representatives, says it could put peace in Northern Ireland at risk.

She says America will oppose anything that could undermine the Good Friday Agreement.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson visited Northern Ireland earlier this week to break the political deadlock at Stormont.

He tried to persuade the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to enter the power sharing government.

They have refused unless parts of the Brexit deal change.
