Visually impaired Cavan woman 'afraid for her life ' over rise in e-scooter use

A visually impaired Cavan woman claims that she is 'afraid for her life ' over the level of e-scooters in Cavan Town.

Joanne Gorman from Cavan Town who is clinically blind says feels nervous every time she goes out of her house.

She says her fears are heightened at a pedestrian crossing two minutes from her house where e-scooter riders do not stop at the crossing.

Joanne says it's an absolutely treacherous situation in Cavan town especially in the past 12 to 18 months.

The local woman recalled two incidents in recent times where she almost had been knocked down.

Joanne says she lives in dread of being hit by one of those flying e scooters.

Meanwhile, Aontú Senator Sarah O' Reilly says Joanne and other pedestrians are being put in serious jeopardy by the reckless, thoughtless use of these scooters.

She said enforcement is needed now before people are seriously hurt or killed.
