The Asthma Society of Ireland says there are ways of managing hay fever.

Hay fever sufferers are being warned of high pollen levels across the country today and tomorrow. Met Éireann says there are high levels of tree pollen at present, but there's a reduced risk on eastern coasts.

Most people with hay fever will have mild symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose, and itchy eyes. Ruth Morrow, respiratory nurse specialist with the Asthma Society of Ireland, says there are ways of managing hay fever.

"Wear a pair of wrap around sunglasses because that will help with the pollens and block them from getting into the eye. Splashing eyes with cold water will cool down eye irritation; take an antihistamine. And, when going for a daily walk, go when the pollen count is low and that tends to be in the morning time.
