The local firefighter who is 10 years in the job had no choice but quit his profession as a mechanic because he has to be available to respond to a call when he is needed.

One of the requirements of the job is that you are within a 2km radius of the fire station at any stage, Eamon added that the role puts pressures on your life in all aspects and leaves holding down a relationship very difficult.

He feels that himself and his fellow colleagues have been let down by the government and he highlighted that firefighters were let down twenty years ago and still to this day they are being let down.
