A local building company has won a 'Silver Award' at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2025. The Irish Construction Excellence Awards took place last Thursday evening in Dublin's Convention Centre, McGuigan Builders, based in Clontibret, were nominated in the Public Building up to €10 million category.
The family-run company coordinated the restoration works at St Macartan's Cathedral in Monaghan Town, which saw major works carried out to the stonework, the tower, and the clock. The landmark restoration of the iconic building was featured in RTE's nationwide recently. Padraig McGuigan from McGuigan Builders told Northern Sound that there's an immense sense of pride being able to see their work every day in the Monaghan skyline.
