31 Gardaí moved from Cavan Town station in 2024. Cavan Town Garda station saw the largest decrease in its garda numbers after 31 officers were reassigned in 2024.
The figures show that in Cavan town; from the beginning of 2024 to the end of 2024; the number of Gardaí fell from 94 to 63.
Indeed, commenting on figures presented in the Irish Independent yesterday, Senator Pauline Tully said it was not good enough that Cavan Town had seen the largest reduction in Garda numbers in the state. Furthermore, the report reveals one in ten stations don't have a designated Garda on hand.
Official figures from the Department of Justice show 129 of the 567 stations across the country recorded a reduction in the number of Gardai assigned to them last year. Senator Tully has been speaking to Ronan Gargan about the issue of Gardai being moved from Cavan town.
