Listen Back: Mercosur trade deal bad news rural Ireland says local farmer. European Union Governments have approved the landmark Mercosur trade deal.

But Ireland was among a number of countries to oppose it. At European Council level countries have voted in favour of the Mercosur Trade deal, an agreement that's been in the works for a quarter of a century.

Ireland opposed the deal; along with France, Poland, Hungary and Austria.

Pig farmer Frank Brady from Cootehill says the Mercosur deal is bad news for rural Ireland.  He spoke to Northern Sound in detail about this.
