Cavan Cllr saddened by downgrading of SOSAD services due to funding. The news emerged yesterday evening that the SOSAD messaging service will cease tomorrow due to a lack of funding.
The suicide awareness and prevention organisation, SOSAD, has announced that it will be downgrading its services. This is due to a lack of sustainable funding. SOSAD, which stands for Save Our Sons and Daughters, also provides a range of mental health and bereavement support services.
The organisation has announced its messaging service will cease from Tuesday. Moreover, this is because "current circumstances" will not allow for it to be maintained. SOSAD said their 24/7 Freephone Helpline (1800 901 909) will remain open, and their free counselling services will continue. SOSAD need your support.
If you are able, please consider donating to us, every contribution helps us to continue supporting those who need it most. To get some reaction to this announcement Ronan Gargan was in Belturbet earlier and spoke with Cllr Brendan Fay who is also a volunteer for SOSAD Cavan.
