Conor McGregor makes surprise visit to the region. Conor McGregor made a surprise visit to Cavan and Monaghan yesterday; in an attempt to rally support in his Presidential bid.
McGregor announced that he plans to run for the country's top office. Moreover, he revealed that he intends on visiting as many areas as possible over the coming weeks.
The former MMA fighter must receive nominations by four local councils to get his name on the ballot; a move that seems unlikely at this point.
McGregor visited Monaghan as he attempted to sway local politicians into backing him. He visited a number of local businesses and met with Fine Gael TD for Cavan and Monaghan David Maxwell, but he confirmed that he is pledging his full support to party candidate Heather Humphreys.
The Dubliner also visited Cavan Town and Ballyjamesduff last night. Ronan Gargan got an opportunity to meet with Mr McGregor while in Monaghan yesterday evening and he sat down with him to discuss his visit.
