Listen Back: Dumping diesel laundering waste Monaghan cost over €100k last year. The dumping of diesel laundering waste is continuing to be a significant issue in Co Monaghan.
That's according to local councillor, Aidan Campbell who say the practice is a scourge in the region. Members of Monaghan County Council were told at last month's meeting of the local authority; that there was 34 such incidents in 2025 up to the beginning of last month.
The most of the dumping of such waste occurred in the Oram and Donaghamoyne areas. Costs incurred to date from this issue in Monaghan stands at 104,000 euro for 2025.
Cllr Campbell says diesel laundering is a blight on our society especially in South Monaghan and it needs to be called out.
He says at the end of the day, it's the taxpayer that foots the bill and he spoke to Ronan Gargan about the issue.
