A funding allocation of €450,000 has been announced for resurfacing works on the Clontoe Road from Ballinode to Scotstown.
The funding was revealed at yesterday's sitting of Monaghan County Council by Chief Executive Robert Burns.
It will offer a safe and alternative road for everyone to use to access Scotstown, Ballinode and Kilmore football field.
Cavan-Monaghan TD Cathy Bennett said she is "delighted" to see that this project has progressed to this stage.
Deputy Bennett said this will offer a safer route and will be made into cycle and pedestrian lanes which will enhance overall road safety.
She says this benefit scheme will be a huge benefit to people from across the two villages, particularly young people.
