Not a single home has been delivered in County Monaghan under the government's so-called Affordable Housing Scheme. What is worse, according to Sinn Féin's Matt Carthy, is that under Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, no such homes will ever be delivered in the county.
Deputy Carthy has lauded the Sinn Féin Affordable Homes Plan, launched in this past week. Indeed, he believes it is the mechanism that will bring home ownership back into the reach of ordinary people. Accordingly, the plan sets out how a Sinn Féin government would deliver genuinely affordable homes. These homes costing between €250,000 to €300,000 to every community.
He said "The housing crisis has seeped into every corner of this state. That didn't happen by accident - it is the inevitable result of the policies pursued by the government. Ronan Gargan spoke with Deputy Carthy about the issue.
