Listen Back: Monaghan students have their say on internet safety. A local principal has highlighted the importance of online safety on Internet Safety Day.
Moreover, Mr James Sherry of St Louis Secondary School in Monaghan Town; said it's "unfortunate" that students now spend such a considerable amount of time on mobile devices.
As a result of this, he said it's vitally important that the whole school community of St Louis are fully aware of the dangers of the internet and social media.
Indeed, Mr Sherry referenced a recent Oireachtas meeting which heard how social media companies who are profiting greatly want to make young people addicted.
Furthermore, the local principal said it's all about teaching young people about the dangers around social media; and how algorithms are there to help feed the addiction.
