Sinn Féin representatives have criticised the government proposal to accommodate asylum seekers at a former pub on the Main Street of Carrickmacross.

Councillor, Colm Carthy, says that he has called for an emergency meeting of the Municipal District Council with Minister Roderic O’Gorman and his officials to convey the concerns of the people of Carrickmacross.

It was also confirmed that local TD, Matt Carthy, has written directly to Minister O’Gorman conveying his own dissatisfaction with the government proposal and seeking clarification on a number of important points. Ronan Gargan has been speaking to Cllr Carthy in relation to this issue earlier today.
