Speed concerns highlighted once again on routes parallel to the N3. A local councillor has called for safety signage and visible warning markers to be erected in Munterconnaught.
Cllr Shane P O'Reilly wants to see something done to alleviate the speed some motorists are travelling. Especially when they pass Ballydurrow Community Centre as well as at the Togher in Ryefield.
Moreover, he said with the level of traffic now using that route; in an effort to avoid the rat race that is Virginia; it's become a very serious situation.
Cllr O'Reilly said following a number of reports to him from locals living in the area, he has made contact with the Gardai in an effort for them to increase speed checks in the area.
He believes no consideration is being given to the residents by the motorists that are speeding on these rural roads, adding that people are driving around thinking they are Michael Schumacher. He said this problem is heightened by the constant avoidance of the N3. Listen here on Northern Sound:
