Listen Back: Works on new playground St Aidan's NS underway. The principal of St Aidan's National School in Bawnboy says the school is "thrilled" to be in the final stages of developing a brand new playground.
According to James Rudden design work is now complete. Moreover, he is hopeful that the new playground will be fully complete by mid-February.
Furthermore, 78 students attend the local school; and he says this safe and inclusive space is much needed as it will enhance children's play and active time.
As part of the school's fundraising efforts, the school organised a candlelit concert in St Mogue's Church before Christmas which was a "huge success" according to the local school principal.
St Aidan's also launched an idonate platform with an original target of €5,000 which currently remains open for donations.
Mr Rudden says he has been "overwhelmed" by the support of local people and businesses as that initial target of €5,000 has now surpassed to over €17,00.
