Tomorrow marks ten years since the marriage equality referendum was passed.
The LGBT community has been critical of the sentiment as of late, with claims levels of acceptance have dropped. Bernadine Quinn is from Outcomers who are a social and support group for the LGBTQ+ people in the North East.
Indeed, she says marriage equality was a significant milestone. Furthermore, it offered an opportunity to educate people about the plight that people from the LGBTQ+ community face.
Bernadine says unfortunately there has been a shift in the wrong direction towards acceptance and she believes if the referendum took place today, it may be harder to pass compared to 10 years ago. Bernadine spoke to Ronan Gargan on today's Wider View Show.
