Senator Robbie Gallagher appointed Justice Spokesperson for Fianna Fáil in Seanad

Senator Robbie Gallagher says he looks forward to a new challenge as he starts his role of Justice Spokesperson for Fianna Fáil in the Seanad today.

The Monaghan senator was appointment by Taoiseach, Micheál Martin last Saturday to the portfolio having spent his last term as education spokesperson.

During that time he brought through legislation on ground rents, which he says gave him some experience in the area of justice, although he does expect it to be a ‘busy brief’.

Senator Gallagher believes there is a strong Fianna Fáil team in the Seanad and is looking forward to working with Cavan Senator Diarmuid Wilson, who is now Spokesperson for Defence.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound he said he will not leave education behind, and will work to bring legislation through that is relevant and important for people in this region.

The ground rents bill was particularly relevant for people in Carrickmacross, as well as for people across the country, and he has asked that anyone who has any suggestions for legislation they would like to see brought forward to the Seanad to get in touch with him.
