Mayo claim last gasp win over Dublin to top league

Armagh crushed Tailteann Cup holders Meath in the Box-It Athletic Grounds, making it two wins from two.

Armagh ran out in a comfortable 2-16 to 0-10 victory, with no reply from Meath.

Cian McConville’s goal in the run up to half-time saw the hosts pull away after Meath had led four points to two after 15 minutes. Armagh led 1-8 to 0-5 at half-time.

Ciaran Mackin had the ball in the Meath net two minutes into the second-half. Oisin Conaty and Oisin O’Neill were pivotal as Armagh sealed their second win of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Fermanagh inflicted a second defeat of the campaign on Kildare winning out 2-10 to 0-12. A first Fermanah win of the campaign.

Declan McCusker’s goal helped Fermanagh lead 1-7 to 0-4 at half-time. Sean Cassidy grabbed Fermanagh’s second goal as they ran out four point winners.

Elsewhere, Elsewhere, Mayo grabbed a last gasp victory over Dublin in McHale Park, 1-12 to 0-14.

Dublin looked like they would run away with this game at various stages. However, Mayo fought back at the end of the first-half to send the sides in at eight points each.

The Dubs moved three points clear 11 minutes into the second-half. However, Mayo fought again. Stephen Coen jumped high to fist Jordan Flynn’s punt to the net on 52 minutes.

The two great rivals exchanged points throughout and were locked 1-11 to 0-14 with Fergal Boland kicking the winner in the fourth minute of injury time. Mayo claiming their second win of the season.

While Dublin lose their second game after defeat to Monaghan last week.

In the day’s only division three clash, Down pushed Limerick aside by 16 points in Pairc Esler, Newry.

Goals from Odhran Murdock (2 penalties) and Daniel Guinness had Down lead 3-8 to 0-5 at half-time. Down going onto to win 3-16 to 0-9.

Indeed, Carlow and Laois picked up their second wins of the Allianz League division four campaign on Saturday night.

Laois built on last week’s win over Longford when they put Wexford to the sword in Chadwick Wexford Park 1-19 to 0-12.

Shaun Fitzpatrick found the Wexford net two minutes before the break as Laois led 1-11 to six point at half-time. Laois going onto win by 10 points.

Meanwhile Carlow, collected their second win of the campaign with a 1-17 to nine point win over Waterford.

Waterford look odds on to finish bottom of the Allianz League with a score difference of -26 after two games. That includes last week’s defeat to Leitrim.
