The return of pre-season provincial tournaments is been welcomed by both players and management. With the pandemic having putting a stop to the Dr. Mc Kenna cup competition last year, it does make a return in 2022 with Cavan away to Armagh on the 6th of January while, Monaghan are also on their travels on the 7th of next month when they face Derry in Ownbeg.
Regular Monaghan forward Conor Mc Manus noted that the return of the competition is welcomed as it gives an opportunity for players coming into the panel to cut their teeth in the inter-county scene
