The competition was not played for in 2021 due to the pandemic

The Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup gets underway on Thursday evening with Cavan welcoming Armagh to Kingspan Breffni at 7:45. Indeed Michael Graham will have home advantage for their 2 group fixtures as the All Ireland champions Tyrone will be the visitors to the Cavan town ground on Tuesday next at 8:15. The Red Hand county are also the holders of the Dr. Mc Kenna cup having won it in 2020 with there been no competition in 2021.

Monaghan get their campaign underway on Friday night when they travel to Owenbeg to face Derry at 7:45 and they will have a quick turn around as they then welcome Fermanagh to St Tiernachs Park Clones on Sunday at 1:30pm. Other opening round fixtures in the competition will see Donegal welcoming Down to Ballybofey on Friday night.  The semi finals of the competition will be contested between the 3 group winners and the highest place runner up.
