Cavan booked a place in the Lory Meagher cup final after a convincing win over Longford
The Breffni side topped the Lory Meagher league table with a game to go after a 3-29 to 3-17 victory in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park
Longford looked to put it up to Ollie Bellew’s side with a Micheál Mulcahy goal inside the first five minutes. However, Jack Barry replied with a goal and Cavan added a second through Eamon Og McAllister.
Cavan led by 10 points at half-time, 3-20 to 3-10. Whereas, Longford bagged two goals in the second-half, they were unable to close out the lead. Cavan winning 3-29 to 3-17.
Elsewhere, Monaghan saw off Lancashire 4-15 to 2-14 in Abbotstown. The win put Monaghan in pole position to finish in second place as they are level on points with Longford.
Monaghan face Longford next weekend in the final round of games. The second placed team will face New York in the semi-final.
