Cavan bow out of hurling league after Sligo defeat

Sligo advance to division 3A final

Cavan bowed out of the Allianz hurling league after a five point defeat to Sligo in their semi-final.

Sligo will now face Mayo in the division 3A final next weekend.

Cavan led by a point at half-time, having played with the wind. Thomas Leonard, Nicholas Kenny 0-7 4f, Jack Barry with Cavan’s first-half points.

The hosts used the wind to their advantage after restart, moving 14 to 11 points clear. Cavan scores coming from two Kenny frees.

Jack Brady’s 48th minute point was Cavan’s last for a seven minute period where Sligo moved into a seven point lead. Another Kenny free and a surprise Thomas Leonard goal put life into the Breffni side.

Cavan trailing by three points, 1-13 to 19 points with eight minutes remaining. However, all the breffni could muster was a Nicholas Kenny free as Sligo won out 0-22 to 1-14.
