Cavan camogie score big win over Armagh

Cavan go two from two

Cavan made it two wins from two in this year's Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship with nine point win over Armagh.

Cavan winning out 3-13 to 1-10. The victory was built on a first-half display where Cavan scored two goals and nine points to 1-4.

The first score of the game came after 38 seconds when Roisin O'Keefe hit the ball into the back of the net securing a fast start for Cavan.

Shanice Fitzsimons followed up with a point.

Armagh came back with a Rachel Trainor 20m free. A fourth minute by a goal after a long ball drop in short and Sinead Quinn got on the rebound and stuck it to the back of the net levelling the sides.

Eimear Brady and Rachel Trainor traded points on the eighth and 11th minute. Ava Connerty found the net pushing Calvin into a three point lead.

Cavan added on points from Roshan O'Keefe and Emo Brady to double their score advantage. Nisha Hughes came back with a point for Armagh.

Three scores in-a-row from Eimear Brady (f) and Shanice Fitzsimons pushed Cavan back out into a 2-7 to 2-1.

Armagh came back with a Rachel Trainor free on the 27th minute. However, Cavan finished the half stronger.

Cavan stronger throughout

Shanice Fitzsimons and a long range, 65m free from goalkeeper Emmett Mulvaney saw Cavan ahead at half-time, 2-9 to 2-1.

Rachel Trainor opened the second-half scoring with a 45m free. However, the equalled was a well taken free from centre-half forward Eimear Brady.

Cavan then hit their third goal of the game. A long free sent in towards the goal mouth broke down.

Emma Plunkett was quickest to react and smashed the ball to the back of the net for Cavan's third major of the afternoon.

Shanice Fitzsimons got on the end of an Emma Mulvaney free to salvage a point leaving Cavan with a comfortable 10 point advantage, eight minutes into the second-half.

However, Armagh weren't going to lie down. Three points in a row from Ciara Hill and two frees from the in-form Rachel Trainor brought their score tally to 1-8, leaving just nine points between the sides.

Indeed, Calvin responded once again. Roisin O'Keefe was fouled on a run through the Armagh defence and Eimear Brady again split the posts.

Rachel Trainor replied with a free for Armagh before Eimear McGeary sent over a point from open play three minutes from time. Cavan leading 1-10 to 12 points.

Two minutes into injury time, Eimear Brady added the final score of the game for Philip Brady's side. Cavan winning out 3-13 to 10.
