Cavan edge out fast finishing London

Cavan came out as one-point victors over London 1-15 to 2-11 in McGovern Park to stay top of Allianz League Division four.

Mickey Graham's side led 1-8 to 1-2 at half-time after a largely dominate display with the advantage of the wind.

Cavan dominated the opening 15 minutes of the game scoring 1-5 without reply. London grabbed their first score after 19 minutes. James Gallaher landed Cavan’s goal while, Paddy Lynch and Cormac O’Reilly were on target for Cavan.

Six minutes later, Henry Walsh gave London a much needed kick-start with an excellent finish giving Raymond Galligan no chance in the Cavan net.

Walsh landed a great score for London on 28 minutes before Cavan’s Gearoid McKiernan slotted over a free, the last score before the interval. Cavan took a six point lead into the second-half.

The start of the second-half was evenly contested with both sides struggling to get points on the board.

After 42 minutes there was still six point between the sides. A quick-fire double from London’s Chris Farley on 50 minutes cut Cavan’s lead to four points.

Four minutes later London’s Conor Moynagh got a lovely score from outside the boot making it a two point game.

Cavan responded with four scores without reply. Conor Madden finished-off a great team move from the Breifini with just six minutes remaining.

On 65 minutes Liam Gavaghan started a late flurry for London. Henry Walsh's point on 71 minutes put four points between the sides. However, the drama was far from over as London were awarded a penalty after Killian Brady brought down a London player in the square.

Chris Farley drove the spot-kick down the middle giving Raymond Galligan no chance.

Fortunately for Cavan, London ran out of time to draw the game level as Cavan won out by a point.
