Strong second half sees the Royals record a four point win

Cavan’s promotion hopes are over after losing to Meath in the Lidl Ladies Football league division two semi-finals at Kingspan Breffni Park.

The sides were deadlocked at five points apiece at half-time before a strong second half saw Meath win 13 points to nine.

It was three points each at the first water break with Ciara Finnegan scoring a brace of points for Cavan while Sinead Greene was also on target.

The teams continued to cancel each other out in the second quarter resulting in a level scoreboard at half-time.

Meath were sharper after the restart and the visitors opened up a four-point gap in the 41st minute.

Emma Duggan and Ciara Finnegan then traded a score each as Meath led ten points to six at the second water break.

The last six points of the game were evenly split between both sides as Meath finished with four points to spare.

Cavan’s league campaign has ended while Meath will take on Kerry in the division two final.
