Clontibret advanced to the Monaghan SFC semi-finals after a three point win over Latton O'Rahileys.
Ryan McGuigan’s second-half goal saw Clontibret home 1-9 to nine points on a miserable night for football.
Clontibret led five points to four at half-time. Conor McManus with four of the Clontibret scores.
McManus opened the scoring in the second minute and made it two points to nil on seven minutes. However, it was Clontibret's last score for 14 minutes.
Darren McIlroy got Latton off the mark on 11 minutes, Ciaran Duffy levelling the scores two minutes later. An Aaron Mulligan free and Eoin Duffy from play had Latton four points to two ahead on 20 minutes.
Two McManus free's had Clontibret level four minutes. Clontibret led five points to four at half-time after Conor Doyle fisted a dropping ball over the bar.
The sides were level three minutes into the second-half as Thomas Connolly and Cillian Lavell exchanged points. Eoin Duffy levelled the game with a 36th minute free.
However, Clontibret then took charge. Aaron Carey and Lavell moving them two points clear.
Ryan McGuigan found the Latton net on 44 minutes to move Clontibret five points clear.
Whereas, Latton struck back with points from Aaron Mulligan (1f) making it a three point game with seven minutes to go. Latton however, spurred a goal chance moments later.
However, McGuigan moved Clontibret 1-9 to 0-8 ahead on 60 minutes. Shane Slevin pulled a point back but it was Clontibret who advanced to the semi-finals.
Clontibret will face face Inniskeen in the Monaghan SFC semi-final on Sunday October eighth. Time and venue to be decided.
